Every single day we have so many choices to make. While some choices seem trivial and easy, some seem important and tough. Certain choices like what to have for breakfast, which route to take, which movie to watch on Netflix or what fruit to eat, may seem pretty ordinary when you make them. However, we are always making choices that are either bringing us closer to our higher self or further away from it. I like to refer to the best version of myself as my Higher Self.

What we choose to consume on a daily basis determines the kind of life we live. This can be easily observed when we look at the effects of the food choices we make. The food we eat literally becomes a part of us, yet we mostly fail to eat intentionally. We subject ourselves to fad diets, trendy detox and so many other things, even though we know these choices will not give us joy in the long run. We have permitted global corporations to fool us and heavily influence our eating behaviours. Now, instead of punishing ourselves or feeling guilty for making these mistakes, let’s be gentle and kind to ourselves.
The most important first step is Awareness. Only by identifying these patterns can we choose to create a different story for ourselves.

Making a conscious choice to take care of our body is an act of self love. Start noticing what foods and forms of exercise give you energy and what drains you down. What may work for one person won’t work for you and that’s okay because we are all unique and wondrous. It’s your responsibility to find out which way works best for you.
Our choice of music also has such a powerful influence on us. All of us have experienced that soothing, calm and peaceful feeling that we get by listening to certain tunes, while some make us feel down and sad. What we choose to listen to affects our mood. Bring awareness to the kind of music that enhances your mood.
Apart from music and food, almost everything that you choose to consume has a lasting effect on you. This includes but is not limited to articles, books you read, movies, videos, television you watch, pictures you look at etc. Even the words that we choose to use have such power. These are our choices that we sometimes make unconsciously without considering their impact on our mood, behavior and decisions.
Wayne Dyer said – “Our lives are a sum total of the choices we make.”
Okay I’m sure you get it now so let’s choose a more positive way to use this to our advantage. Next time you are making any choice ask yourself ‘Will my future self be thankful if I choose this?’
